Allotments

Having an allotment is a fast growing trend and for some good reasons! Here's 5 fast facts about allotment gardening.

1. It enables you to grow fruit and vegetables and harvest these straight onto your plate
2. You can save a lot on your shopping bill. A lot of plot holders are virtually self sufficient in veg
3. Allotments increase sustainability - including allowing you to recycle organic waste into compost, or reduce your food miles (don't drive to the supermarket to buy food that has travelled many miles)
4. They're important to provide open spaces for people and wildlife within the urban environment
5. You can meet new and interesting people. Plot holders include individuals and whole families.

Whatever your reason for wanting an allotment, Milton Keynes has a good number of sites. There are currently 3 sites in Walton Parish, located at:
Studley Knapp, Walnut Tree
Boxberry Gardens, Walnut Tree
Holst Crescent, Old Farm Park

Getting your own allotment plot
Allotments are very popular and there is usually a waiting list for a plot. To check the status, costs and get on the list, please contact the parish clerk.
